The Tour Office strives to accommodate visitors with special needs.

Visitors with Visual Impairments
Guests with visual impairments may select a tactile tour, which is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes and must be booked in advance. These tours are generally limited to fifteen visitors and are suitable for all ages.
Visitors with Hearing Loss
Sign language interpreters are available for tour guests with a minimum of five business-days’ notice. Tour staff will wear clear masks on tour upon request.
Parking and Entrances
Parking for wheelchair users is available in the adjacent garage and on the south side of West State Street between the State House and Thomas Edison State College. Entrances to the State House, State House Annex and Welcome Center are equipped with wheelchair accessible ramps and power assisted doors.
Wheelchair Access
The State House and State House Annex are equipped with wheelchair accessible elevators, restrooms and phones. Public galleries are not wheelchair accessible. For tours, arrangements will be made for the floor of both legislative chambers to be available to visitors in wheelchairs. On session days, sergeants-at-arms of both Houses may grant visitors using wheelchairs access to the chamber floors through the first floor main entrance.
Signage
Signage in the State House Annex and pedestrian tunnel connecting to the State House contains Braille and raised lettering.
New Parents
A Lactation Room is available for nursing mothers. It is located adjacent to the women’s bathroom on level 3 of the State House, Room L302. Nearby restrooms and those in the Welcome Center are equipped with changing stations.
Legislative Activity
The legislative chambers are equipped with built-in FM-assisted listening devices for persons with hearing impairments. Headsets and receivers are available when requested 24 hours in advance. Specific arrangements can be made by calling:

Large-print versions of bills, resolutions and committee statements can be obtained from the Office of Legislative Services Legislative Information and Bill Room (LIBR). Other items can be enlarged or made available in an audio format by request. The LIBR also provides general information assistance and a brochure for people with special needs.
